School’s Out For Summer!

Happy Monday!

Today is my first day of summer holiday, woo hoo! I can]t beleive I have 5 whole weeks off before it is back to the grind, Icelanders know how to do summer holiday right! With lots happening lately I figured it was a good time for a little check in.

life_lately
Wearing: jeans and sweaters still! Ugh this weather lately has been very rainy and grey and it is affecting my mood. I need some sunshine and am counting down the days until I will be laying on a sunny beach in Croatia!

Loving: that I am now on summer vacation! I feel like a little kid excited for school to be out so I can sleep in and have no responsibilities.

Needing: a spa day, my nails and eyebrows are in serious need of some pampering.

Eating: at my favorite restaurant in Reykjavik today with two of girlfriends. If you ever in Reykjavik looking for a good lunch spot I highly recommend trying Gló!

Watching: the World Cup. I have joined the bandwagon and am now hooked on the World Cup. Although I am quite glad that there is not three games every single night so now we can watch something else, like my other latest obsession Nashville.

Feeling: loved. Is there anything better than that?

Drinking: iced coffee. I finally bought a coffee filter so I can make iced coffee at home, I missed it so much.

Writing:a list of things I want to accomplish over my summer holiday. Lots of writing and crafts are on the schedule!

Training: for another half marathon this August. I almost signed up for the full marathon but H talked some sense into me before I made that decision. Traveling for most of the month before a marathon isn’t exactly the best way to train for one, next year though it is on my to do list.

Wanting: to go on a major shopping spree. Not buying anything new for almost 9 months can really make you start to resent those two bags of clothes you moved with.

Missing: sunny days and warm nights. It is great having the beautiful midnight sun but I really miss those lazy summer nights sitting under the stars.

Wondering: how I got so lucky with my job and co-workers. It isn’t easy being the only English person in the office but my co-workers always make me feel welcomed and comfortable. Having friends in your co-workers really makes work that much better.

Looking: up things I want to do and see in Croatia. I am getting so excited for our trip, only two more weeks!

Thinking: that H and I have totally different ideas when it comes to interior design. For the most part we have been able to come up with a great comprise but at the moment we are currently having a photo wall design battle and I am not feeling his idea. Oh grownup life.

Reading: my NASM textbook. I only have a few more months before my personal trainer certification exam and I have really been slacking on my studying. Time to kick it into gear and get my study on.

Laughing: at the skype conversation I had with my family yesterday. No matter how far away I am they can always make me laugh.

Wishing: my family could come visit me this summer. I can’t wait for the day they visit so I can some them all over my new home.

Dreaming: of a new camera. Sadly this won’t happen until I go home this Christmas but until then I will keep dreaming about all the beautiful photos of Iceland I will be able to take with a proper camera. Any camera recommendations from my fellow bloggers out there?

Anticipating: tomorrow’s Travel Tuesday linkup. I am looking forward to reading everyone’s post about their travel style, don’t forget to link up with us!

Running Under The Midnight Sun

First off a very happy birthday to my little sister! I wish I was there to celebrate with you. I still get just as excited for birthday cake as I did back in the day so be sure to enjoy a piece for me!

Now on to some confessions from my half marathon on Monday!

I confess I went to the bathroom three times in the 20 minutes I was waiting for my run to start. Those pre-race jitters really got to me. Of course the last time I went to the bathroom there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls so we all had to use the shake and go method. Awesome way to start the race.

I confess right before I went to the start line I had a mini break down in the car because I couldn’t figure out how to tie the timing chip to my shoe. Lets just say I get a bit emotional before I run a race. I managed to pull it together and fake smile right before I started my run so we are going to pretend my little breakdown never happened.
Midnight Sun Run
I confess I have yet to replace my Garmin that my favorite blonde accidentally chewed the straps off of. I got some strange looks from the other runners when I was holding my strapless watch in the air trying to find a satellite signal but hey it still works just fine!

Garmin
I confess I had that annoyingly positive runner by my side for most of my run and you know what, I did’t hate him! Thank you incredibly positive man for giving me the motivation to keep on going!

I confess for most of my run I was running by a group of guys. Lets just say their odor gave me the extra push to run a bit faster just so I could stay upwind from them. (FYI I am the black ninja in the front of the pack)

Midnight Sun RunAnd isn’t that view amazing! The entire course was full of beautiful scenery!

I confess I kicked ass in my half marathon and took off 8 minutes from my previous half marathon time. This resulted in me wheezing across the finish line and when H wanted to take my picture right after I finished I very sexily said to him, “move I am going to throw up.” He so kindly caught the moment on camera.

Midnight Sun Run
I confess when we finished the race we got a medal and a gift certificate for free cases of Powerade. My first thought, awesome that is my go to hangover recovery drink! What can I say, I run so I can drink more wine!

Midnight Sun Run
My half marathon was a great time and I am already ready to sign up for another one, typical runners high talking!

The fact that I got to cross of run a race in a different country from my bucket list though was totally worth all the pain I felt during the run. And a big thank you all for your supportive comments on Monday, you guys are the best!

Question of the Day?
Any races on your schedule this summer? What is your confession for the week?

Oh Greece You Did It Again

Welcome to Travel Tuesday!

Today I am sharing another one of the lovely Greek islands, Naxos.

Naxos, Greece Naxos really surprised me and was one of my favorite stops on our month long trip. Our days were filled with lazy beach time, fruity cocktails enjoyed while watching the sunset and lots of delicious meals, I am still dreaming about my time in Naxos.

To summarize just how wonderful our time in Naxos was here is my Do’s and Don’ts for Naxos.

Do play on the beach all day

Don’t step on the sand art!

Do eat at the little restaurants around townNaxos, Greece
The food in Greece is amazing and we didn’t have one meal that disappointed us during our time in Naxos. It seems to be the smaller the restaurant and the more family that works there the better the food!

Don’t forget dessert

Do rent a 4-wheeler and drive all over the island

I was a bit surprised by how dry and desert like the Greek islands were. I had it in my mind that they would be a bit more tropical but it was still beautiful.

IMG_2117You never know when you will stumble upon old ruins or an old beautiful church out in the middle of no where!

An extra bonus if your 4-wheeler matches your dress!

Don’t run over the farmer and his goats that take up the entire roadNaxos, GreeceInstead take their picture while you wait for them to pass.

Do walk around the Old Market in downtown
