Motherly Advice

My mom, as most moms are, is full of wisdom, some that I have listened to and some that I didn’t pay any attention to. A few lessons my mom taught us girls growing up though have really stuck with me and today I am passing on some of her motherly advice to you all.

WCMF

1. Always wash your face, no matter how tired/lazy/drunk you are, your skin will thank you for it

2. Don’t let the haters get you down and don’t sink to their level. Beat them on the court instead.

3. Never wait for a man to do something for you, get out there and take care of things yourself

4. Your sisters are your lifelong best friends, stop fighting with them and cherish your relationship

Sisters

5. Don’t believe what others say about tape on bras, they never work

6. Quitting is not an option. If you start something your going to finish it

7. Always wear sunscreen

8. Never forget, no matter how old your mom is she can still take you down if you get mouthy

9. Don’t be afraid to take risks, you don’t want to live in regret

10. A little bit of lipstick can do wonders

11. If you can’t walk in the heels don’t wear them

12. Life is short, don’t sit around feeling sorry for yourself when things get you down, get out there and live!

Rockstar Mom
I could go on and on with this list but the point is my mom is amazing and I am so grateful for everything she has done for me and all the lessons she has taught me and my sisters.

Happy Belated Mother’s Day mom!

I wish I had followed more of my mother’s advice. Haha, it’s so hard to admit that to her though :) x

Haha right I never would have admitted that I thought she was right when I was in high school. Moms sure do give good advice though.

this is so awesome. the one thing that totally rang true was everything our moms told us are 100000% right and we don’t realize that until we’re much older. my mom told me: always take care of your skin starting at a young age otherwise you’ll look like an old shoe when you’re in your 30s; make sure that your boyfriend loves you more; never put up with any shit…so many awesome words of wisdom from both of my parents!

It really is true, we don’t realize how right our moms are when we are young but they are the smartest ones out there. Sounds like your parents gave you some awesome advice!

Your mom looks like so much fun! Also, my mom always told me #4 and I never believed her until a few years ago!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I agree I wish I would have listened earlier but she is so right!

  • http://sophieinclogs.com Sophie

Such wise words! Could not agree more about the tape-on bras - why does there seem to be this gender-wide pact to pretend they’re totally awesome?!!!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Seriously I think it is time everyone just owns up to and says the truth that those tape on bras do not work at all!

  • http://montgomeryfest.com/ Annie Montgomery

aaaand she rocks. so true and feisty! ;)

Your mum sounds like a champ. Great words of wisdom!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

      She really is a champ!

  • http://jamiewrit.es/ Jamie

This is wonderful, your mom sounds amazing! I’d have to agree about the tape-on bras. That sh*t never holds… unless it’s duct tape, in which case, it does work, but good god, the removal is horrific. After enough years of transparent-shouldered skating dresses, I can attest to that one.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Those tape on bras really never work! Oh I could only imagine how many times you have had to experience duct tape removal during that time!

Your Mom’s advice tips are fantastic - especially the clean you face one. What a difference it makes!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

It really does make a difference, I will always keep that in my mind that I have to wash my face no matter what!
