Spring is Gone

winter
So this what has been happening in Iceland this week. After that beautiful weather over the weekend I was surprised to wake up to a dusting of snow on Wednesday. This dusting has quickly turned into mass amounts of snow and it seems to not be slowing down anytime soon! I know everyone seems to be talking about this annoying snow storm in March so I will drop it, just after I share some pictures of what my commute to work now looks like.

Okay ya its really beautiful and how often do you see a snow covered beach?? But really the snow is really inconvenient and I have been having to remind myself of all the wonderful things about living in Iceland this week.

Now that I have my snow venting over with lets continue on with some Friday Five action.

1. I am now the proud owner of tickets to see this man in concert this summer.

Thats right Justin Timberlake is coming to Iceland!! Big concerts here in Iceland are not common so all of Iceland has been talking about this concert since it was announced. Tickets sold out within 12 minutes! H worked his magic though and got into the presale to secure our tickets and I am so excited!

2. To kick of carnival week on Monday we celebrated Bun Day in Iceland. I have never seen more pastries in one place but it was heaven. I will have a post up soon about the different ways Iceland celebrates carnival week, it includes lots of eating.

3. Tuesday I found myself at my fist pole fitness class. Pole fitness is really popular in Iceland so when my co-worker asked me to join her I was excited to give it a try. After about 5 minutes of class I realized I would not be hanging upside down on the pole anytime soon. Just swinging around the pole once was hard enough, what a workout! Anyone else ever tried a pole fitness class?

4. As I was browsing the bookstore looking for a book for my book club I came across this lovely display. Iceland may be taking the whole tourism boom a bit to far. This display is Icelandic condoms in some fancy packaging. So for $10 you can bring home your own personal Icelandic condom and show all your friends what an awesome souvenir you wasted your money on. Please don’t buy these if you visit Iceland!

5. I discovered this fancy coffee machine in our office the other day and my life has been changed. Working in a coffee shop for over 5 years I am a bit of a coffee snob so the burnt tasting coffee everyone around me has been drinking just wasn’t working for me. Now that I have discovered this beautiful machine though my coffee consumption may have doubled. That just means I am extra productive at work though.

It has been such a busy week, its fun to have plans but it is exhausting and I am so glad its finally Friday! I can’t wait to come home and not have to do anything.

If you need a little break at work today check out these links that I am loving.

  • Who knew American themed parties would be so popular!
  • I knew there was something I was learning from all those Adam Sandler movies I watched
  • This article made me miss my best friend even more!
  • This baby holding a sign to welcome her dad home from the army is amazing!

I am off to dream of some beaches, have a great weekend everyone!

Question of the Day?
Did you celebrate carnival week with any special events?

Linking up with Rebecca and Casey

We had a beautiful day of sunshine yesterday but the heater is back on today. They are saying that this weekend may get actually warm though- if so I am headed to the beach! PS Pole fitness sounds scary. I would most definitely kill myself.

Enjoy your beautiful weather for me! It is still snowing away over here! I was so nervous to try pole fitness, I think if I was trying a more advanced class injuries would have happened!

Soooo jealous of those JT tickets!! Have fun!

Oh my goodness, that picture of you with all the snow!!! It makes me cold just looking at it. You definitely deserve all those cups of delicious looking coffee! :)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I was covered in snow from my short walk home! Good thing I have yummy coffee to keep me warm:)

  • http://confuzzledom.wordpress.com/ bevchen

    Icelandic condoms… ooooh dear!

It was cold here this morning, but it’s supposed to get warm over the weekend.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

My thoughts exactly when I saw them in stores!

Brian’s parents have one of those coffee machines, I don’t normally like coffee but I love that kind! Have a great weekend :-)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I need that coffee machine in my house! Thank you, hope you had a great weekend!

Oh man, I’m so done with winter too. But Spring doesn’t seem very close, yet!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Ugh I know, it is still snowing! My hope for spring is going away ever day.

Oh man, I tried pole fitness once. I don’t think my arms have ever been so sore!! Great workout though!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

My arms were so sore, it really was such a great workout!

  • http://voyageofthemeemee.com/ Amanda MeeMee

I would LOVE to try pole fitness. But just one on one with me and a trainer. No one else needs to see what would definitely be a huge disaster! haha

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Haha I think if I am going to try anything other than just twirling around the pole I would need to just have a one on one with the trainer as well. It is such a fun workout you should def give it a try!

Well, now I absolutely HAVE to visit Iceland…why don’t we have Bun Day?? I love any day devoted to pastries :)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

A day devoted to pastries is a winner in my book!

  • http://agirlandhertravels.com/ Polly

    Snow still?! My condolences!

Though I’d totally get on a pole fitness class, although I’m sure my upper arm strength would make for a laughably awkward effort.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Ugh yes this snow seems to be confused, we had such a mild winter with hardly any snow and now it doesn’t seem to want to leave.

Ha don’t worry you won’t be the only one struggling with upper arm strength, we all were in my class.

I’m dealing with similar weather here in Colorado-it’s snowing now, even though it was 60 degrees F yesterday! What! But, we don’t have any snow-covered beaches here, so I’m a little jealous of you anyway ;)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

The weather is so crazy, one day its sunny and hopes of spring are in the air, the next day were hit with a snow storm! I am ready for summer thats for sure.

  • http://weiderjl.blogspot.com/ Jenn

I’ve taken a pole class and thought it was so fun! You’re right though, it’s such a workout and I definitely felt it the next day!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

It was such a fun workout, my arms were definitely feeling it the next day.

That’s some snow!! We’re coffee snobs too, so I know how exciting it is to see a machine like that! ;)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I am glad you understand, good coffee is magical:)

    A snow covered beach? Interesting!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

To bad it wasn’t a white sandy beach in the tropics!

  • http://www.rhymeandribbons.com/ Amanda

Sorry about the bad weather:( Pole classes are so tough! Some girlfriends and I dropped in for one local class once and the net day we were all so sore! x

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I was so sore the next day. I went with my co-worker and we were both dying trying to type our arms were so sore!

  • http://anothercleanslate.com/ Kate @ Another Clean Slate

Ohhh Iceland is on my places to visit. Looks like i need to put condoms on my list of things to bring back ;) And i live right down the street from a beach that is sadly snow covered far too often.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

At least we can say we live by the beach, even if it tends to be covered in snow a bit too often!

  • http://tothedayslikethis.blogspot.co.uk/ Sammy Dorn

Wow, can’t believe it is still snowing. It was the best weather in London today. Sun shining and warm. I have never been game enough to try pole fitness! I think I would be so un-co at it!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Me either! We really didn’t have much snow this winter so I feel like its making up for it now. Send some sunny London weather our way:)

Bun Day sounds interesting and so does that pole dancing class. I can’t wait to read your upcoming Carnival posts!!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Pole dance class was definitely very interesting. I am already ready for bun day next year!

  • http://sophieinclogs.wordpress.com/ Sophie

NOO I’m hoping the spring we’re having here doesn’t pull a disappearing act yet - I’m not ready!!
‘Bun Day’ sounds like absolute heaven on Earth and I’m really looking forward to your post about that

    • http://sophieinclogs.wordpress.com/ Sophie

(Also now I have a huge craving for anything ‘bun-like’ and much as I love the Dutch they are not particularly skilled in baked goods!)

      • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Just when we all had hope that spring was around the corner the weather had to trick us with snow! Bun Day was a delicious heaven!

  • http://totravelandbeyond.wordpress.com/ Macy Gutermuth

That is a ton of snow. We have been having a pretty bipolar March in Baltimore, but not that much snow…but who says it won’t happen!!

I would loveee to take a pole dancing class! I just don’t think many of my friends would be about that lol.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

It was so much snow! It was more snow than we had all winter! Yes try it pole dancing class was such fun.
