13th Month in Iceland By The Numbers

13th months already! Time is just cruising along as I dive into my second year in Iceland.

This past month was full of celebrations in our household. Shorty after celebrating my one year exaptiversary H and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary and then of course last week my blog celebrated its one year birthday! Add in some sunny weekend days, Halloween festivities, nights out laughing with friends and the daily work grind and you have my past month in a nutshell.

But this wouldn’t be a proper “by the numbers” post without pictures now would it?! So lets get to looking into my 13th month in Iceland.

One day of snow

First Snow in IcelandGood thing the snow is beautiful because it sure caused chaos for me! The snow was gone by the following morning and we have only seen unseasonal warmer temperatures since. Never thought I would say this but I kind of want the snow now!

Weekends spent down by the sea

Life by the seaI love living right by the water and take full advantage of any nice days we get to go for a walk along the sea! It looks like I will be waiting until Spring before I take another walk by the sea so I am glad I got to spend our last sunny weekends down by the water.

One pumpkin carved

Pumpkins were all over Reykjavik this year and H and I made sure to join in on the fun! This was H’s first pumpkin carving experience and he thankfully has a natural talent for pumpkin carving as I do not. We know who will be carving the pumpkins in this relationship from now on.

Four rounds of questions (unsuccessfully) answered at the pub quiz

Iceland Pub QuizI am probably the most useless team member when it comes to these pub quizzes but I always have a blast at them! There is a monthly English pub quiz in Reykjavik and each one I have gone to has been a great time. I will be back next month, maybe with H in tow to help increase our chances of winning, he is a quiz master.

Two hours prepping our Halloween costumes

Halloween in IcelandMore like two hours watching H paint his face, and then four of his friends, and then mine.

Ya, I don’t really know what happened, I started the night going for a Mary Poppins meets Ringmaster look and ended the night looking like some scary zombie with face paint that took ages to get off! This was my first Halloween out in a few years though and beside the pain in the ass face paint it was a blast.

First blate!

BlateThe lovely Sammy from To The Days Like This made her way up to my part of Europe and I am so glad I got to meet her and her friends while they were in Reykjavik. This girl is just as awesome as she seems on her blog, if you haven’t discovered Sammy’s blog head over now!

Dozens of food booths visited at Harpa

Harpa, IcelandA few weekends ago H and I visited a food market at the Harpa with dozens of local Icelandic restaurants and farmers handing out tasty samples. We were able to pick up a few Christmas gifts as well as sample some seaweed pesto (it was….interesting), a fun and tasty afternoon.

Four year anniversary celebrated

Justin Timberlake ConcertThis guy makes me laugh everyday and I wouldn’t want anyone else by my side on this crazy journey called life. Remember y’all, the couple that travels together stays together!

Five bands watched at Iceland Airwaves

For one week Reykjavik turns into one big concert with music lovers from all over the world in town to check out all the bands. H and I went to some off-venue shows and listened to some awesome Icelandic bands, if only I could remember their names!

One year of blogging celebrated

Unlocking Kiki, Blogging I will admit, when I first started this blogging adventure I never expected to continue for more than a few months. I also never expected for become completely addicted to it and after one year of blogging I am not going anywhere! This little blog of mine and the community around it is one of the best parts of my day. So thanks to all you readers out there who have followed along this past year with me, hope you stick around to see what the future has in store!

Three weeks until I am going home for Christmas!

AzoraI can’t wait to give my pup kisses, hug my family, laugh with my friends, and stuff my face with all my favorite foods! To say I am excited is an understatement, lets just fast forward through these three weeks!

This next month is going to be full of holiday fun, very dark winter mornings, and hopefully a bit of snow! I am looking forward to starting my holiday season in Iceland and continuing the fun onto Oregon. Christmas time is the best time!
