When Your Blog Is On The Fritz

You pour yourself a glass of wine and relive your recent trip through pictures…

Berlin

Hey there!

I hope your week has been full of sunshine and your weekend involves some fun spring weather activities. I can tell you us here in Iceland will most definitely not be enjoying any sunshine, so enjoy some for me!

Don’t feel to bad for me though, I just arrived home after spending a week in Berlin where the sun did shine for a few days and it was glorious. And can I just say I am absolutely in love with Berlin! From the history to the fun vibe I could totally see myself living here. I mean any place that has an awesome flea market every Sunday followed by karaoke in the park is a winner in my book!

Berlin

While I was away enjoying life in Berlin it seems like my blog decided to go on vacation as well and throw all responsibilities out the window. I won’t lie, when I got home a few hours ago to find the two posts I had written for this week deleted from my blog after I spent hours working on them I almost cried. It is so upsetting when you put lots of time and effort into a post only to have something like this happen.

But, I am not letting it get me down.

After a few minute meltdown I took a deep breath and reminded myself this blog is all about having fun and enjoying myself. So while I am really disappointed that those posts are no longer up for you all to enjoy I am not going to spend my day fretting about it and trying to fix it.

This weekend my blog and I are going to have a little chat about its recent behavior so hopefully next week things will be all sorted out and back to normal. And if you see a post full of tulips pop up again, well enjoy the view for a second time because I just can’t let that post not be on my blog.

On a side note I do not know how other bloggers managed to travel and keep up with blogging at the same time. That is just not how I function. I can’t seem to share my travels until a few weeks later so stay tuned, lots of Berlin and Amsterdam action will be happening around here in the next few weeks.

Berlin

Until then I just wanted to stop by and say hello. I am off to enjoy my first night back home by packing and going early to bed just because I am so excited to sleep in my own bed again. It is always good to crawl into your own bed isn’t it?!

See you all next week with hopefully zero technical issues!

Question of the Day?
Have you ever visited a city that you saw yourself living in? To my fellow bloggers, how do you deal when your blog has technical issues?

No worries lovey! I’m just glad you enjoyed Berlin!

Thanks for the heads up my dear:) And Berlin was just amazing, I loved my time there! Hope your having a blast in Greece!

How do I handle it? I cry. Not even gonna pretend otherwise! I’ve had two posts mysteriously vanish before I even hit the publish button. And of course, it never deletes the quickie posts that you throw together like a little postcard, oh no. It always seems to happen to the ones you put your heart and soul into. Ugh. Well, have another glass of wine and I hope those posts reappear as quickly as they disappeared!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

It is so upsetting when it happens! Ugh I am trying to not let it get me down but it is so hard not to when you put so much time and effort into it! Wine helps though, that is for sure;)

I wrote a post three times last week. For some reason it kept deleting. I just walked away and went to bed. I came back the next day and it worked. As for living in a city, every city we go to we talk about we could live here. It has almost turned into a joke now. http://Www.eatallovertheworld.com

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Ugh that is so frustrating! But it is true, usually for me just walking away and coming back later is the way to go. Any cities currently at the top of your list???

I hope your tulip post finds its way home because it was awesome! It definitely moved a spring trip to the Netherlands up on my bucket list - your pictures are perfect and you have so many (and at least you’ve still got them to look back through). You’ll get it all figured out and I’m excited to hear more about how you liked Berlin! It really is such a fun city.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

I think I may have to re-post the tulip fields post, I want to have it to look at again and again ;)

I don’t think I’ve ever really had real technical issues with my blog… just lucky I guess lol. Blogger has been nicer to me than it is to most people ;) I have been to a couple of cities I could see myself living in.. and I ended up in the one I didn’t think I could live in, haha.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

That is great, technical issues are no fun and I am so not tech savvy so I never know how to fix them ha. Isn’t it funny how where we end up, I am the same way, ended up in a city I never thought I would live in ha.

I really hope I get to visit Berlin this year! I’ve never been to Germany other than the airport and it just look so lovely. It’s great visiting a new city and imagining yourself living there - I felt the exact same way about Brighton in England. I took a complete hiatus from my blog while my parents were visiting last week and now I find myself now staring at my laptop with hundreds of new photos and no idea where to begin…I definitely give props to those people who manage to post on a daily basis regardless of what’s going on in their life!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

I really loved Berlin! It was my first time visiting Germany and I had a great time! I really have no idea how people manage to post daily either, that just seems impossible to me!

  • http://www.adventuresofalondonkiwi.blogspot.com/ Emma @ AdventuresofaLondonKiwi

I like to a take a few weeks or so to muse on travels before blogging them too - it’s a lovely way to keep it as a reminder :)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

I think so as well:) And it gives you the time to reflect on your travels and go over all those beautiful pictures:)

I am on day 23 of my blog being on the fritz so I am totally with you. I’m choosing to blog through the madness and work on the technical glitches on the side. I do hope your tulip post makes it back, because it is one of my favorites!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Blogging issues are just so frustrating aren’t they!? Thanks so much, I think I am going to have to re-post the tulips again I want to have them to look back on!

  • http://www.brookemeaganjones.com/ Brooke Jones

Sorry to hear about your technical issues! One morning I got up and checked bloglovin’ only to see that there was a new post from me about something so random that I can’t even remember. Apparently something had somehow hacked my blog and thrown up some spam post. I was just hoping not too many people saw it! Berlin looks beautiful though and sounds awesome. I pretty much fall in love everywhere I go and decide I should move there lol

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Ugh, that is so frustrating! Silly blog problems! I really loved Berlin, it was a fun city to visit!

  • http://www.onetripatatime.com Stacey

I know exactly what you mean about keeping up with your blog while you travel. I don’t know how they do it either! I’ll be all proud of myself for getting into a nice routine and then bam! all out the window with one trip. :-) Oh well.I keep reminding myself if I wasn’t taking trips I likely wouldn’t have a blog in the first place.
Glad you had a great time in Berlin. I’ll be heading there myself at the end of a business trip this summer and I can’t wait to see it. You know I’ll be staying tuned to your blog to get even more ideas and more pumped for my visit.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Same here! And then it takes me so long to get back into a routine once I am home from the trips. But travel is always worth it:)

Berlin is such an awesome city! I was there for a business trip as well and am so happy work took me there! Your going to love it, I can only imagine how great it is in the summer!

Oh no! Technology - sometimes I love it but sometimes I hate it - it can be so fickle! So disappointing about those posts being deleted! I would have had a mini meltdown too, especially as we all know how much work goes into each and every post! I feel for you girlie! I hope you have a lovely weekend and a good little chat with your blog! I can’t wait to catch up with your adventures soon! Xx

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Such a great way to put it, me and technology have a love hate relationship for sure! Thanks so much Carly:) Hope you have had a lovely weekend and so happy to have your awesome post on my blog!

Oh nooo, what a pain. Hopefully you get it working soon. Went to Berlin last year and loved it! Great pictures.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Thanks! And isn’t Berlin great, I just loved it there!

  • http://prettythingandco.com/ Madaline

Berlin looks like it has such LIFE! (I guess I never thought of it that way). Are you sure the post got deleted and isn’t just hiding? Do you have a plugin that backs everything up?

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Berlin has such life! Such an international city with so much happening I loved it! Sadly the post are no where to be found. It was actually mostly the images I had uploaded that have been deleted completely off my blog which is something I have never seen before. Darn blogging issues.

I hope you get all your errors fixed soon! xx

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Thanks so much:) Hope your having a wonderful weekend!

  • http://northernambitions.com ursula @ Nothern Ambitions

Ugh that sucks! That’s never happened to me so I can’t help you out but hopefully some more technologically gifted person manages to find the error.

I have visited a city I want to live in. They were almost all in Europe and it was sooooo hard to leave. Why do all the cool cities need to be so far away? :)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

I am happy to hear you have never had any tech issues! They are no fun but I think I have them sorted out now. Same here, my favorite cities are all just so far away darn!

  • http://www.redefiningathlete.com Courtney

I absolutely second your opinion on Berlin. I love basically everywhere that I go, but Berlin was somewhere that I could absolutely live. I can only imagine how much I would love it if I could actually speak German too ;)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

Right! Berlin was amazing and I could only imagine how much more I would love it there if I could understand!

  • http://www.touchofserendipityblog.com/ raganwesson

I totally feel your pain. I usually write all of my posts in a word document and then transfer everything to wordpress so that way I don’t run any risk of technological disaster. I know its extra work, but to me its worth it!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene @ Unlocking Kiki

That is a good idea. I often write mine on google drive and then just transfer it over. Of course with the posts I just lost I didn’t do that, darn!
