When I think of Florence I picture wine tasting out in the country side, strolls along the river, and checking out the little markets in the city. Lucky for me this is exactly what we found Florence to be. Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a little cottage in the countryside of Tuscany, have my own “Under The Tuscan Sun” moment.
Sadly we only had two days in Florence so we didn’t waste anytime. When we arrived we first went to find out hostel which was located right in city center. Our hostel was in this small alley which to me is exactly how I picture the streets of Italy to look like.

This was also the worst hostel we stayed at during our month long trip. When we arrived we found the door to be locked and we were suppose to call the number left outside. Well when you are backpacking through Europe you don’t typically have access to your cell phone. Luckily someone came soon so they let us in to our very old dusty room. Since we were only staying one night we didn’t want to bother with finding a new place and just left our gross room as quickly as possible.
Our first stop, booking a wine tasting tour for the next day. With the important things taken care of we spent the rest of the day exploring the city and enjoying the slower pace of things.

I absolutely adore this city! It was such a breath of fresh air to enjoy a smaller, less crowded city after being in Milan and Venice. My favorite part of the day was when we walked up to a lookout point and took in some beautiful views of the city.

Okay I didn’t really enjoy walking up the hundreds of stairs, but I was rewarded with wine at the top so I toughed it out.

Seriously how beautiful are these views! I could easily live in Florence and be happy for the rest of my life.
What better way to end a perfect day spent leisurely walking around the city, drinking wine, and relaxing in the sunshine then with a delicious dinner and an evening stroll.

Next week I will share our trip out to the Tuscany countryside where we spent the day visiting wineries and the beautiful small towns Siena and San Giamargni.
Question of the Day?
What is your favorite city you have visited while traveling?
