I have heard how fun new years is in Iceland so I was more than excited to finally get to experience it for myself. Even better was getting to ring in the new year with H by my side after 3 years of celebrating apart.

H and I

My night included a delicious lobster dinner, card games and wine, a firework show that I will never forget and dancing the rest of the night away with H at one of the coolest parties I have ever been to.

NYE Fireworks in Reykjavik

My attempt to capture the spectacular firework show from last night. We watched them from the middle of the city so you could see fireworks everywhere you looked. Spending NYE in Reykjavik needs to be added to your bucket list, its amazing!

By far the best new years I have had and I am looking forward to what 2014 has in store!

This sounds like an amazing way to ring in the New Year ! I am so glad to have found your blog and to be following your new adventure. My dearest friend from high school spent a year in Reykjavik as an exchange student and he still speaks so fondly of his time there.

We just celebrated new years with my bf’s family, low key but nice. I never really like going out anymore because it’s so crazy in England, even the local pubs charge entry fees and hike up drink prices! Your new years sounds great.

It was nice getting to spend low key family time before midnight when the craziness happened. The party we went to is actually something a couple guys started up that were tired of the high prices at the bars on nye so they decided to host their own party. Its now basically where everyone goes, there was hundreds of people, and they have managed to keep the prices really cheap which makes it even better:) Low key new years though are usually more my thing so it sounds like yours was nice as well!

Just found you via Alex’s site — I was in Reykjavik for New Year’s as well, spent an hour watching the fireworks at the church from the left side (close to where they were being set off) — it was amazing! I miss it already :( Thanks for taking me back :)

Yaa so glad you stopped by! What a small world I was up at the church but on the right side, they were crazy with those fireworks but it was such a blast. Glad I could bring back some good memories for you:)
