Massive buildings, busy street walkers, horns honking and street food smells all around. New York City was about as different as Iceland as you can get but I loved it!
The Big Apple has been on my list for as long as I can remember. I must admit, I don’t know if it was NYC itself that interested me, or if I just wanted to visit to see what all the hype was about. I mean who doesn’t have NYC on their travel list?
Whichever one it was after my short trip to NYC this past fall I now completely understand why this city is a must see destination for most!
The Viking and I only had two full days to explore the city. Which means we really needed to make the most out of our time if we wanted to see everything on our list!
Before our trip I had a lengthy skype chat with my parents, who happen to be big fans of NYC and full of awesome tips. As soon as our bags were dropped off we took off with our map marking all the spots we wanted to see and the tips from my parents (this map was like gold!) and hit the ground running.
Not really, I was actually trying to limit the amount of walking I did each day to save my legs for the marathon, the whole reason why I was even in NYC to begin with. In a city like New York though this was quite the challenge, and I pretty much failed at my goal, we ended up walking everywhere, but I can’t complain I got to see some gorgeous sights along the way.
From Harlem to Midtown, Central Park to Battery Park, walking the Highline and bar hopping with a childhood friend in Chelsea, the Viking and I managed to fit in everything we had planned and more. Just looking back through our pictures has me dreaming of another trip back, a much longer trip, there is still so much I want to see and do!
Until then enjoy this photo diary of our whirlwind NYC trip.
Next time I have to see Jimmy Fallon!
NYC is definitely on the mind! Now to convince the Viking that we need another trip back asap!
Question of the Day?
Do you have a place on your travel list you have always wanted to visit? Have you been to NYC before?
