School’s Out For Summer!

Happy Monday!

Today is my first day of summer holiday, woo hoo! I can]t beleive I have 5 whole weeks off before it is back to the grind, Icelanders know how to do summer holiday right! With lots happening lately I figured it was a good time for a little check in.

life_lately
Wearing: jeans and sweaters still! Ugh this weather lately has been very rainy and grey and it is affecting my mood. I need some sunshine and am counting down the days until I will be laying on a sunny beach in Croatia!

Loving: that I am now on summer vacation! I feel like a little kid excited for school to be out so I can sleep in and have no responsibilities.

Needing: a spa day, my nails and eyebrows are in serious need of some pampering.

Eating: at my favorite restaurant in Reykjavik today with two of girlfriends. If you ever in Reykjavik looking for a good lunch spot I highly recommend trying Gló!

Watching: the World Cup. I have joined the bandwagon and am now hooked on the World Cup. Although I am quite glad that there is not three games every single night so now we can watch something else, like my other latest obsession Nashville.

Feeling: loved. Is there anything better than that?

Drinking: iced coffee. I finally bought a coffee filter so I can make iced coffee at home, I missed it so much.

Writing:a list of things I want to accomplish over my summer holiday. Lots of writing and crafts are on the schedule!

Training: for another half marathon this August. I almost signed up for the full marathon but H talked some sense into me before I made that decision. Traveling for most of the month before a marathon isn’t exactly the best way to train for one, next year though it is on my to do list.

Wanting: to go on a major shopping spree. Not buying anything new for almost 9 months can really make you start to resent those two bags of clothes you moved with.

Missing: sunny days and warm nights. It is great having the beautiful midnight sun but I really miss those lazy summer nights sitting under the stars.

Wondering: how I got so lucky with my job and co-workers. It isn’t easy being the only English person in the office but my co-workers always make me feel welcomed and comfortable. Having friends in your co-workers really makes work that much better.

Looking: up things I want to do and see in Croatia. I am getting so excited for our trip, only two more weeks!

Thinking: that H and I have totally different ideas when it comes to interior design. For the most part we have been able to come up with a great comprise but at the moment we are currently having a photo wall design battle and I am not feeling his idea. Oh grownup life.

Reading: my NASM textbook. I only have a few more months before my personal trainer certification exam and I have really been slacking on my studying. Time to kick it into gear and get my study on.

Laughing: at the skype conversation I had with my family yesterday. No matter how far away I am they can always make me laugh.

Wishing: my family could come visit me this summer. I can’t wait for the day they visit so I can some them all over my new home.

Dreaming: of a new camera. Sadly this won’t happen until I go home this Christmas but until then I will keep dreaming about all the beautiful photos of Iceland I will be able to take with a proper camera. Any camera recommendations from my fellow bloggers out there?

Anticipating: tomorrow’s Travel Tuesday linkup. I am looking forward to reading everyone’s post about their travel style, don’t forget to link up with us!

Question of the Day?
What are you looking forward to in July? Any summer holiday plans?

It took us a few years to get in line with eac hother on house decorating, one thing we have found is if we both get to show our idea and leave it for a day or two and then we can see which one we liked better in actuality rather than theory. Also I have found it helps to give one or two positive points of Fredriks idea and try to incorporate them into my idea.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Love the idea of showing your idea and waiting a few days to see which one you like better. We will have to try it!

Your summer holiday sounds amazing!!! Iceland really knows how to live. Congrats on signing up for another half-marathon! Also, I’m fascinated by the world of personal training. Do you want to start working as a trainer in Iceland?

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I am not sure if I want to start working as a trainer in Iceland, I am just fascinated with the world of personal training and nutrition but didn’t want to go back to school for 7 years to become a trainer. Who knows what will happen with it though!

Thats terrible that it’s such a gloomy summer, but maybe that’ll help you sit around and relax until your trips? let me know if you find some good camera’s I’m getting one too and have absolutely no idea about cameras at all!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Yes I will let you know I know nothing about cameras! And yes one positive things about a gloomy summer is it gives me extra time to relax!

Love your ‘Life Lately’ post! We’re looking forward to going to the Philippines next week for 2 weeks. Croatia sounds amazing! Can’t wait to see all your posts when you get back! I have great coworkers, too. Doesn’t that make all the difference?! In the last two places we’ve worked that wasn’t the case, but in our current school, my Chinese coworkers are just amazing. I’m so thankful for them! I just did a ‘life lately’ post, too using your list.

Aaah, I wish I got a 5-week summer holiday! The way things have worked out this year, I’m taking my holiday in one-week bursts (usually we’re supposed to take one “long” holiday of 2-3 weeks, but because I had an unplanned week in England in February and the way other stuff has worked out I can’t do that this year). Can’t wait to see your posts about Croatia. I’ve heard it’s beautiful!

So far my only plan for July is a visit from my brother at the end of July. I can’t wait!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

How exciting that your brother will be visiting! It is awesome having such a long vacation all at once, really gives you time to refresh from work.

  • http://thepumpkinshead.wordpress.com/ Betty J. Ogburn

…Well, it’s definitely not Croatia, but I may be visiting my cousin (who lives close to Myrtle Beach) this 4th weekend!!…
Also, I’m looking forward to applying for my visa for Spain!!…

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

How exciting, good luck with your visa process!

I wish we got more time off working a “standard” job here in the States!! Enjoy Croatia! Going to Dubrovnik is on my bucket list-will you be going there?

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I agree, I will have a hard time working in the states again without all this awesome vacation time we get here. Dubrovnik is our first stop and I can’t wait!

Nails and brows are on my list for this week! Hope someday I get to try your restaurant recommendation :)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I wish it wasn’t so expensive to get my nails and brows down here, can’t wait to visit home for a little pampering.

    Happy summer vacation! Yay!

I can’t wait to get back to Moscow where I’ll be able to wear sweaters. Sorry, but this crazy heat has me craving long sleeves and pants.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I know how you feel, when I do get some heat I miss cozy sweaters but right now I miss the feeling of sunshine on my face!
