Happy Monday everyone. How was your weekend?
My weekend was the perfect mix of low key and fun. Over the weekend I was starting to feel a bit better and after being stuck in bed for most of the week it felt so nice to finally get out and do something. Lets recap shall we.
Friday
Friday was my first day back at work since Monday so it was a busy day trying to play catch up. I came home exhausted and ready for bed at 4 but instead had to get my party dress on to attend a work event with H.
In Iceland they have “annual balls” where all the companies in the same industry have a night out to celebrate the past years work. H works in advertising so his annual ball is with all the other advertising agencies in Iceland. The event is like the Oscars for advertising with different categories and awards.
I have a marketing degree so I love attending the annual ball and getting to see all the best ad’s of the year. This year was filled with neon lights, a candy bar which I was sure to make H stock up at, and tons of marketing connections made.

When I attend these work events with H I always get super nervous since I won’t know anyone or what they are saying. I tend to work myself up a bit to much and think I will be so uncomfortable when in the end it turns out completely fine. This year was no different and I had a great night with H.
Saturday
After a fun night out on Friday I was ready for a quiet day at home and that was just what I got. I did manage to get dressed for a short outing to the store, I don’t trust H to do the shopping alone, he would come home only with steaks and skyr.
What is skyr you might ask? Skyr is a traditional Icelandic dairy product, think extra thick greek yogurt, that has been a staple in the Icelandic diet for centuries. It is basically the main product you find in the refrigerate section, good thing I love the stuff! Just check out this picture to get the idea. And this is from one of the smaller stores in town as well!

After stocking up on skyr, seriously one shelf in our fridge in always stocked with it, I resumed my place on the couch were I enjoyed the rest of my day blowing my nose and maybe complaining a bit about how terrible I felt. I’m a joy when I am sick:)
Sunday
Sunday was a beautiful sunny day here in Reykjavik. I made sure to snap a photo of us out on a walk to prove that the sun does shine here, I may have caught H off guard but oh well.

A few weeks ago some friends of ours invited us to a exhibit called Kling & Bang by an Icelandic artist. The exhibit was interesting but standing in a room for an hour attempting to figure out this piece of art was not my cup of tea. Of course I was the one who dragged H to this and he ended up really enjoying the event, at least someone had fun!
One thing you often see here in Reykjavik is a ton of street graffiti and the exhibit we attended was right next to an area that is basically covered in street art. I snapped a few photos of my favorites, this is art that I understand.

Sunday was also Konudagur (Women’s Day) here in Iceland, which is basically the Icelandic version of Valentine’s Day. The guys even get their own day in January to get spoiled, all about equality here in Iceland. I had already been spoiled on Valentine’s Day but I of course had to experience the Icelandic holiday as well. While there was no chocolate or flowers H did spend a few hours helping me fix up my blog design, I got a yummy breakfast and dinner made for me, and to top it off the house was cleaned, he is a keeper:)

It was a great relaxing weekend and I am finally starting to feel a bit more like myself again. I have a busy week ahead of me with promising opportunities at work, my book club that I am looking forward to and my first girls night in Iceland, no time to be sick! Hope you all have a wonderful week, and if not cheer up Scandal is finally back on!
Question of the Day?
Do you enjoy attending art exhibits? Anyone else a Scandal fan?
