This weekend, it is going to be one for the books.
First time to NYC.
Running the NYC marathon.
Oh and five years with that Viking of mine.
We have lots to celebrate.
My Viking and I, we have had one heck of a relationship.
From three years of doing the dreadful long distance thing, to traveling around the world together, and now making a life together in Iceland, it has been quite the adventure.
This past year was no different, it has been filled with lots of amazing adventures with my Viking. From Iceland to Oregon, Hawaii to Prague, we have been all over and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Being in an international relationship, it is not easy, but somehow we have managed to make it through all those tearful airport goodbyes, way too many skype talks trying to figure out what to do so we could be in the same country, and now two years of living together in Iceland, and still going strong.
When I look back to when I first met the Viking and all those people who told me our relationship could never work, I can’t help but smile and think, oh but it can.
So in honor of our 5th year together I put together this little list of daily things that go on in our relationship that make it work.
I am the planner, he would rather just go-with-the flow.
He is the optimist, I am the realist.
I do the laundry, he does the dishes.
He is the photographer, I am the writer.
I am type A, he is laid back.
He is the navigator, I sit back and take in the views.
I have the sweet tooth, he craves his chips.
He gives the best creative gifts, I just try and come up with something decent.
I complain about any weather other than sunshine, he can make the best of a blizzard.
He is a night owl, I am a morning person.
I have no patience, he has enough for the both of us.
He has the best sense of humor, I have the giggles often.
As my mom likes to say, “H is good for me.”
I couldn’t agree more, we are good fit:)
Happy anniversary to my Viking. I can’t wait to see what adventures this next year holds.
Question of the Day?
Have you ever been in a long distance relationship? Any NYC date night recommendations?
