Hi Unlocking Kiki readers! I’m Casey from Land of Marvels guest posting here today and I’m so excited to be here with you! I blog about my passion for travel, sharing travel tips as I venture through the world and offering an honest truth about travel that isn’t always so glamorous. But at the end of the day, the reason I blog is to share the incredible places I’ve seen in the world, of which that list is growing each year and I’m always on the look out for the next amazing place to visit.

I’ve seen a lot of the world over the years but there are certain places that just stick with you. One of those places for me is Iceland, Kaelene’s adopted home! It’s such an incredible country and IcelandAir offers the opportunity to stop over there when traveling to Europe for no extra cost, so as you’re booking that Summer and Fall travel, be sure to stop over in Iceland with one of these perfect itineraries to experience the best of Europe and Iceland!

5 Perfect Itineraries to Use the IcelandAir Stopover:

copenhagen
To get the full fledged Northern European vacation, consider flying through Iceland on the way to Europe. Stop over in Reykjavik and spend a couple days enjoying the nightlife, the up and coming food scene and the Scandinavian architecture. Then take the short flight to Copenhagen to continue your adventure in Scandinavia. In Copenhagen you’ll find colorful buildings, great shopping and a really nice atmosphere. Then hop on another short flight a bit farther South to Amsterdam. Here you’ll wander canal-lined streets for hours, enjoy incredible Dutch waffle cookies and see all the sites that Amsterdam has to offer.

scotland
Want to enjoy the best of Iceland and the UK and see some incredible countrysides too? Stop over in Iceland and explore the Golden Circle sites like Gulfoss and Geiser, then jump on the 3 hour flight to London. Spend a few days wandering the incredible streets of London, exploring the neighborhoods like Notting Hill and South Kensington. Then hop on the train and head up to Scotland, exploring areas like Edinburgh and St. Andrews. You’ll see some incredible scenery throughout Iceland and the UK and it will quite literally take your breath away!

PARIS
Looking to enjoy some incredible culture and food alongside each other? Stop in Iceland and taste all the up and coming restaurants gaining notoriety in Reykjavik. Then head to Paris and spend a few days taste testing your way around the city. You’ll fill yourself up with croissants, eclairs and macarons all the while also indulging on steak frites and baguettes, but it will be oh so worth it! Then head to the French Riviera (by plane or train) and enjoy all the South coast has to offer. You’ll find life slows a bit in the South of France, so take your time wandering the streets of Nice, stopping for bites of street food wherever you see them.

ireland
For anyone looking for natural beauty galore on their travels? This one is perfect for you. Start in Iceland with a road trip around the Snæfellsnes peninsula for a breathtaking tour of fjords, mountains and scenic viewpoints. Then jump on a plane to Dublin to enjoy the wonderful cultural hub of Ireland with colorful buildings and incredible food. Rent a car or grab a train and head North through the countryside, taking in the green rolling hills covered in sheep and rocky cliffsides above the roaring sea. Make your way to Belfast and a bit farther North to the Giants Causeway to see the most beautiful raw beauty of the coastline. Finish up in the little town of Bushmills and take in all the countryside.

Interested in a relaxed trip where you can explore in the morning and nap in the afternoon? Well then, head to Iceland and hire a private guide to drive you around the sites near Reykjavik. You’ll see so much more than you will on the bus tours, yet still be comfortable while being driven around. Then hop on the plane to Barcelona and indulge in tapas and sangria until you’re tired. Then take a siesta and then explore more! Hop on a train after a few days in Barcelona and head South to Seville, a paradise filled with orange trees lining the streets and orange and white buildings for miles. Wander the tiny cobblestone alleys and stop for tapas whenever your heart desires. Then take a siesta, then do it all over again.

Brilliant!! I’ve seen the Iceland stopover a few times and wasn’t sure what I would do for such a short period of time (I’d like to spend at least a week there), but these itineraries are really great!
