Work, work, work, work…
Rihannas new song may be incredibly annoying (and always get stuck in my head) but it pretty well sums up the past few weeks for me.
And this picture pretty well sums up how I feel about all that work…

Ya, its knocking me down a bit, but it has been one of those times where your so busy its almost funny, you know what I mean?
It is all fun things that are keeping me busy so I can’t complain. Except for how fast time is going, what is up with that? I feel like I looked up from my work and all of a sudden it is almost the end of April, where in the world is time going?!
In just a few weeks the Viking and I will be taking off for a long weekend roadtripping around Scotland, and then a few more weeks after that I am heading back to Oregon for the summer. So basically life is not about to be slowing down anytime soon, but there are lots of fun things to look forward to!
Today though is all about rest here in Iceland as we have the day off for my favorite Icelandic holiday, the first day of summer!
And what is more relaxing than taking in waterfalls on a sunny spring day?
Oh foxy Faxi, this waterfall is a real gem that I can’t believe took me over two years to visit! Trust me guys, beat the crowds and opt for these smaller waterfalls around Iceland, having the place all to yourself is much more magical.
Back to Faxi.
Faxi waterfall is located along the popular Golden Circle route where visitors tend to visit the famous three stops, Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir. This means that pretty Faxi is not as crowded as the other stops along the Golden Circle making it a peaceful place to add on your Golden Circle itinerary and take a break from the crowds.
The Viking and I made our way over to Faxi a few weeks ago after our stop at Kerið crater. We entered in Faxi to Google maps and heading off to find it. As we turned down a gravel road with no water in sight it didn’t take us long to figure out our directions where not correct.
The lesson to take away from our random detour, Faxi is not always recognized in the gps, instead try putting in Vatnsleysufoss and you should end up in the right place. There is no sign for Faxi and it can’t be seen from the road but once you turn on the correct place it is just a minute drive down before you have the beautiful waterfall in sight.
This was the only “crowd” we had to deal with at Faxi, who quickly left after getting their pictures.
Reason #41 why you should visit Faxi waterfall, because I think everyone should get to enjoy a beautiful Icelandic waterfall to themselves.
The Viking and I made a day of it and planned out a few other stops to create the perfect alternative Golden Circle route. Stay tuned for a post on this route to come, especially if you are one of those travelers that likes to avoid the crowds like me:)
Question of the Day?
Do you enjoy taking alternative routes from popular places?
