One Last Italian Adventure

Two summers ago H and I spent two weeks traveling all over Italy before heading off to the gorgeous beaches in Greece. Before we headed to Greece we ended our Italian adventure with a quick stop to the beautiful city of Naples.

NaplesNaplesNaples
We arrived in Naples late in the afternoon and spent our first day wandering around the busy little streets, which I will admit overwhelmed me a bit.

Naples

Clothing lines above your head, someone selling something everywhere you look, children playing soccer in the street and motorbikes weaving their way through the chaos, it was a fascinating sight to see!

NaplesNaplesNaples
As I was walking around in awe of what was going on around me H discovered a bakery where we tried a Sfogliatelle, an Italian pastry that is absolutely delicious.

NaplesNaples
Feeling a bit exhausted from all the chaos happening around us we took our delicious Sfogliatelle and headed towards the harbor area for some exploring.

NaplesNaplesNaplesNaplesNaples
So many beautiful views in this area, I wouldn’t mind strolling around there everyday.

By this point we were ready to find some dinner and headed off to find a pizzeria that had been recommended to us by a waiter in Milan. Lucky for us we had a handy map the nice waiter drew for us to lead the way.

Naples

It took us a bit but we finally stumbled upon the pizzeria that will forever be remember as the best pizza I have ever ate!

NaplesNaplesNaplesNaplesNaples
Completely stuffed H and I strolled through the same small streets that where full of life during the day, but at night they were quiet and beautiful glowing in the city lights.

Naples
The following morning we decided to take a boat to the island of Capri, as was recommended to us by our BFF the waiter in Milan. We spent the day relaxing on the beach and taking a boat trip around the island where we saw some of the most beautiful blue water.

Capri lived up to its hype, such a gorgeous place I highly recommend visiting Capri if you ever have the chance.

Our time in Naples was too short for us to explore everything we wanted to. One day I will have to go back and spend more time in this lovely city.

Question of the Day?

What is the best thing you ever ate when traveling? Have you been to Naples?

Capri really seems to be gorgeous! I would love to visit the island! And I can totally relate that it must have been pure relaxation after a day in such a hectic city as Naples. I’m not one for these kinds of cities either…..

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Naples was just a bit to much for me so it was great to escape to a quieter island. And Capri is really gorgeous!

We were actually in Naples yesterday. Not my cup of tea. Was glad our time there was brief as we enjoyed our time in Pompeii and Sorrento more! We decoded to skip Capri due price and opted for a n afternoon on Punta Del Capo instead, swimming in some ancient roman baths. So gorgeous.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I agree, it was not my cup of tea either, just a bit to much chaos for me. Those ancient roman baths sound amazing!

I’d love to visit Naples or Capri! I studied abroad in Italy in college and miss it. The best thing I ever ate while traveling was barbecue at the night market in Dunhuang, China. Everything was just covered in this awesome combination of spices. Amazing.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Where did you study in Italy? I fell in love with Florence and wished I was an art major so I could study abroad there! That bbq sounds delicious!

That pizza looks amazing! I only took a train through Naples, but would love to stop there one day!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

The pizza was amazing. It was a interesting place to see. A bit to hectic to me but the pizza was worth it.

Is it weird that I still remember you posting about that pizza? Like that pizza must have made a huge impact on my memory… x

Love Naples! Don’t think it is possible to pick one favorite food I’ve had while traveling, but that pizza you ate looked pretty awesome.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Eating delicious food is one of my favorite parts of traveling!

  • http://prettythingandco.com/ Madaline

I LOVE capri. Naples not so much. It’s one of those places that “IS” Italy - it embodies everything that makes Italy - it just happens to be dangerous and a pit. And thats per the Italians.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Naples definitely made me feel a bit uncomfortable, like I always needed to be looking over my shoulder. I felt more than overwhelmed so our trip to Capri was a gorgeous escape!

  • http://www.elegance-revisited.com/ TiinaL

Wonderful photos, again! I only passed by Naples, on my way to Pompei a very long time ago. Italy is a bit of an undiscovered country for me..

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I wish I could have visited Pompei while I was in the area, it looks amazing.

I’ve never heard of Sfogliatella, but I know better than to turn away an unknown italian dish. (They’re so good at making food! :) ) How lucky to find that BFF waiter!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I agree, the food in Italy was delicious. Getting tips from the locals never disappoints.

  • http://www.shoutingchow.com Hsiao-Ting

I love local recommendation on local restaurants. The map the waiter drew was the bomb! Italy just has so many good food!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I agree! There are so many small little places to eat you would never find them without recommendations. Haha that map spent two weeks traveling in our pocket before we could use it but I am so glad it survived the trip!

  • http://thethingsiamcrazyfor.wordpress.com/ Camila

My college flatmate was from Naples and she told me it was sooo frantic and crazy. Always something going on, someone talking, etc. It seems completely true from your pictures! The view over the water and mountains is beautiful! And Capri looks heavenly :)

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

It was so frantic and crazy, a bit to much for me! Capri was a gorgeous and calm place.

  • http://thepumpkinshead.wordpress.com/ Betty J. Ogburn

…The first time I visited Madrid, me and my companions went to one of those hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and I got this crepe that had, chicken, spinach, and this creamy white sauce…That’s probably the best travel meal I’ve eaten so far!!…

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Those hole in the wall restaurants often turn out to be the best ones!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

What a small world, that pizza really is the best!

  • http://www.amyandthegreatworld.com/ AmyMacWorld

Wow it’s really beautiful! I’ve heard that Naples is kind of crazy and not as charming as other cities in Italy but it certainly looks gorgeous here! Either way, eating pizza in Naples is on my life to-do list as it was supposedly invented there!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I totally agree with that, I didn’t find it as charming at the other cities in Italy we visited.

AH I ended my Italy trip in Naples, and have some of these same pics! We only stayed for a day and didn’t get to do as much exploring, so it wasn’t a great trip, but your beautiful pictures make me think I need to go back and give it another chance!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Same here, we ended our Italy trip in Naples only for a quick stop, I would love to head back and get to explore the area more outside of the city.

  • http://independenttravelcats.com/ Jessica - Independent Travel C

I have never been to Naples and have heard mixed reports from other travelers (negatives being crowds, petty crime, traffic), but the photos (and food) look great. Would love to visit!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I had no idea what to expect when we went to Naples but after visiting there I hear the mixed views a lot as well. The food was worth the chaos though!

  • http://www.chicadeedee.com/ Dannielle @ Chicadeedee

that pizza oven is the dream! I’d love to have one in my backyard.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I wish! I would have pizza everyday!

  • http://theannabelleblog.com/ Anna Belle

Naples pizza is the best!! I’m glad you got to head to Capri for the day. When we go for longer trips, I prefer Ischia (a little more laid back/cheaper) but every bit as pretty!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

The pizza there really was the best. I was happy to get out of the chaos for the day, if I ever head back I will have to check out Ischia!

  • http://speaking-denglish.com/ Alex, Denglish Speaker

Totally would have hopped over to Capri too - it’s definitely on my list, along with eating THAT EXACT PIZZA in Naples, holy moly that looks good.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

That pizza is on my list, just to good to only be enjoyed once in a lifetime!

  • http://welaughanyway.blogspot.com/ Yalanda_Meshell

Gorgeous photos! Capri is definitely on my list!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Capri was a random choice but I am so glad we headed over and checked it out, so beautiful!

  • http://stylishimoto.blogspot.jp/ Anna

I have never been to Naples, your photos are lovely :) That pastry looks delicious! I once read about a special type of pastry from Burano in Venice so when we went I was determined to try it, it was so tasty!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

I love trying new foods when traveling, and pastries are always at the top of my list!

  • http://dianadegzz.blogspot.com Diana — Life in German.

Never been to Naples, and my favorite food while traveling was also Pizza, but in Venice, especially the Capricciosa.

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

Italy knows how to do pizza right!

  • http://www.the-lifestyle-project.com/ Danielle @ The-Lifestyle-Prj

Oh my gosh, sign me up for some of that pizza right now! You look so cute in those pics! I can’t wait to visit Italy one day.

Thank you Danielle ;) That pizza was amazing!

Ooh, the husband and I were just talking about taking his parents to Naples when they visit this Fall- good timing ;) my favorite travel food would have to be Khao Soy in Northern athailand. Can’t find it anywhere so I really need to learn how to make it!

    • http://unlockingkiki.com/ Kaelene Spence

We went to Naples towards the end of September and it was a great time.
It was so hot even then so I can imagine it is super warm in the summer.

Thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family?

Hello to every one out here, am here to share the unexpected miracle that happened to me three days ago, My name is Jeffrey Dowling,i live in TEXAS,USA.and I`m happily married to a lovely and caring wife, with two kids A very big problem occurred in my family seven months ago, between me and my wife so terrible that she took the case to court for a divorce she said that she never wanted to stay with me again, and that she did not love me anymore So she packed out of my house and made me and my children passed through severe pain. I tried all my possible means to get her back, after much begging, but all to no avail and she confirmed it that she has made her decision, and she never wanted to see me again. So on one evening,as i was coming back from work,i met an old friend of mine who asked of my wife So i explained every thing to her,so she told me that the only way i can get my wife back,is to visit a spell caster, because it has really worked for her too So i never believed in spell, but i had no other choice, than to follow her advice. Then she gave me the email address of the spell caster whom she visited.([email protected]}, So the next morning,i sent a mail to the address she gave to me,and the spell caster assured me that i will get my wife back the next day what an amazing statement!! I never believed,so he spoke with me,and told me everything that i need to do. Then the next morning, So surprisingly, my wife who did not call me for the past seven {7}months,gave me a call to inform me that she was coming back So Amazing!! So that was how she came back that same day, with lots of love and joy,and she apologized for her mistake, and for the pain she caused me and my children. Then from that day,our relationship was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, was now stronger than how it were before,by the help of a spell caster . So, i will advice you out there to kindly visit the same website http://bravespellcaster.yolasite.com,if you are in any condition like this,or you have any problem related to “bringing your ex back. So thanks to Dr Brave for bringing back my wife, and brought great joy to my family once again.{[email protected]} , Thanks.
