You guys its has been months since we have had a proper sunny day here in Reykjavik, I don’t even remember what a sunny day looks like anymore!

Okay, I am being a bit dramatic. We have had a good 5 days of sunshine since October, but something about the below freezing temperatures has kept away from enjoying those sunny days, imagine that.

Now I know I just gave you guys 5 reasons to visit Iceland in the winter but right now the winter days are getting to me and I am missing sunshine! So since there is no sunshine in my or Iceland’s near future I am bringing some sunshine to the blog with some throwback pictures. Just check out how beautiful Iceland is when the sun shines!

Iceland your gorgeous in ever season but I am ready for the sunshine to come back and melt away the snow, I have had enough of this winter wonderland!

    So beautiful! I know you just had your why you should travel to Iceland in winter, but these pictures just look so much more appealing to me. i’m so sick of winter!!

    We have just had 2 days of sun here and I’m telling you - it REALLY makes a difference to your mood. I have been like 10 times happier for seeing the sun! Bring on spring!

    I feel ya. The longest I went in Moscow without sun was 87 days (we wavered on whether to count the day as ‘sunny’ but felt we had to for our sanity).

    Now every day in VA we wake up and get to make the same lame “omg! what is that shiny thing in the sky?!” joke. And it’s awesome. (Sorry.)

      Ugh, I think if I started to keep track I would get too depressed. When we were in Oregon over Christmas it felt like summer in Iceland ha. I miss the sunshine!

    I can’t imagine going that long without having some sunshine. Here in New Mexico we may have a few dreary, cloudy days, but for the most part it’s always sunny. I think this area is prettiest in early fall/late summer. Love your pictures!!

      I joke with my boyfriend that we are going to have to move somewhere that is a desert so I can thaw out from this winter. But really I am serious and need non stop sunshine in my life ha.

    Like the person below me, I can’t imagine going that long without sunshine either! I’m also a California gal & am very lucky to have sunshine 99% of the time. I’m not sure about the rest of the country, but I think fall & spring in California is the prettiest :)

    Iceland is gorgeous, but I don’t think I could handle the winters or lack of sunshine. Hoping for a few sunny and unseasonably warm days to come your way soon!

      I don’t have too much of an issue with the winter weather until around this time, when I am just over it and ready for summer!

      It is rough sometimes not seeing the sunshine for so long. I guess it kind of makes up for it with the long summer days, kind of :)

    I think I would definitely rather visit in the summer! hahahah! I do like the LOOK of snow, but I don’t like having to go out in it. I think Michigan is definitely prettiest in the Fall.

    Tanzania is hot all year round. I think there was a cool month whilst I was at home in England having the baby, but other than that it is hot, hot. I’m so bored! I loved being back in the UK in January when it was really cold! I know that makes me sound crazy. I guess you want what you can’t have!

      It is so true that as soon as you have something you want something else. I like having all the seasons, just a shorter winter would be nice :)

    Peru definitely looks best in the summer!!! Even when it’s sweltering and you get all sticky hot (and my hair looks like a hot frizzy mess) … it’s better than the sunless days of winter, where it’s cloudy and ugly outside. Spring is soon though in Iceland, right?!

      Yes I agree, I would rather it be super warm and sunny then dealing with the dark cloudy winter days! I sure hope Spring is soon but probably not for another month at least.

    How hot does it get in the summer and how long does it last? It definitively looks beautiful!

      It can vary between 5-20 degree Celsius from May to August. The warmer days are quite rare though, but when the sun is shining it feels very strong!
