Iceland is spoiling me lately.
Two weekends in a row with sunshine. In January. I don’t even care that it has been freezing cold outside, the sun sparkling off the snow, it is so beautiful.
My weekend, it was full of sunshine, beautiful snowy landscapes and waterfalls. What more do you need for a perfect winter weekend?!
After visiting the unbelievably blue waterfall Brúarfoss last spring I knew I had to return in the winter to see it covered in snow. Bright blue water surrounded by fluffy white snow with the winter sun shining, it was like a scene from a fairytale!
Like I said, Iceland is totally spoiling me this winter.
Now before I go and jinx things lets all take a second to knock on wood, I don’t want all these nice things I am saying about the Icelandic weather to turn on me. Done? Okay lets move on.
I know I just went on about this last week, but adapting to the Icelandic winter, that is a big deal for me. I don’t think I would of made it through another winter like last year, I would of had to pack the Viking up and head somewhere tropical.
While somewhere warm and sunny still sounds amazing I think I would miss these beautiful winter days.
Yes, it is still freezing cold. And yes we don’t get to see the sunshine that often. But you know what, I have seen the sun more times in these first few weeks of January than I remember from all of last winter! Totally not kidding about that. My cabin fever last year, it was bad you guys.
Thankfully Iceland is letting me out of the house this winter, and I am taking full advantage of the nicer weather to get out and explore.

Now that whole the sun doesn’t rise until almost 11 thing, that is still happening, but I have nothing to complain about. Just check out this sunrise I got to enjoy this weekend.
The pictures, they just don’t do it justice. The sky was the most vibrant orange and red colors, it was beautiful!
I mean amazing right?! When I get to see things like that gorgeous winter sunrise I don’t feel as crazy about the fact that I chose to move to the Arctic.
Our day just got more gorgeous from there with a walk back to one of my favorite waterfalls in Iceland.

How can you not like winter with a view like that?!
My Viking, he went picture crazy over Brúarfoss, something I more than support since this means I have lots of gorgeous pictures to share with you guys!

If you are a photographer heading to Iceland you really must add a stop at Brúarfoss to your schedule. This place is just picture perfect, I still can’t decide which season I prefer it in.
I have so many places on my list I want to visit during the winter. It is amazing how places in Iceland can change so much from the different seasons. I am just going to keep my fingers crossed that this gorgeous winter weather continues, I have many more adventures I need to fit in during these snowy months!
More winter pictures of Brúarfoss to come, I hope you aren’t sick of all my snowy pictures yet!
Until the next weekend adventure Iceland, stay beautiful!
Question of the Day?
How has the winter weather been where you live?
